Sick Beauty?

Posted by prettyface's blog on January 26th, 2006

Is there such a thing as beauty when you're sick? I have had a cold/flu for the past couple of days and during that time I have been avoiding mirrors like the plague. I look tired, disheveled, my nose is red, I even think my face looks bloated. It's not bad enough that my sinuses are so congested that I can't breathe properly, I also can't stand to look at myself.

The weird thing is that when you're sick you really can't be bothered to worry too much about how your hair looks or if your face is washed. And makeup? Ha. Not even in the realm of possibility. I don't like the fact that I look bad, but I don't care enough to do anything about it. It would take too much energy. It's a good thing I don't have to leave the house.

A humorous look at hairdresser etiquette…

This may seem like a bit of a "no brainer," but seriously:
Hairdressers DO NOT like it when you CHEAT on them!!!

And I know this, HOW???  Because I AM a hairdresser, and yes, admittedly, I've had clients CHEAT

In some cases, it can be forgiven: maybe they were out of town, or maybe I was unavailable.

In OTHER cases, though--it's harder to overlook.  Like the other day...

A FRIEND who is also a client recently cheated.

I love Yoga! So why can’t I keep going?

Posted by prettyface's blog on January 5th, 2006

Yesterday, I went to yoga again after about a six month hiatus. Don't ask me what took me so long to get back into it, because I could give you a whole pack of excuses. The main point is that I couldn't keep up! I kept finding myself needing to hang out in devotional pose while the rest of the class continued on. Those long chair poses, really kill me! Everytime a yoga teacher asks me to do "chair pose preparation" I want to just lay down on my mat.

Don't get me wrong, I love yoga. Every time I go to a class, no matter how resistant I am to getting there, I am always glad I came. Even when it's really challenging, I'm happy to be there. Actually, I didn't intend to complain so much in this posting about yoga (it's just the soreness in my muscles talking). I meant to write this to inspire others to try yoga. (or maybe I'm just trying to convince the rest of the world that yoga is vital to life so that I can encourage myself to go more regularly.)
